Wonderful genre painting of five children all looking and playing with a seated cat, in a small cobblestone corner beside a humble residence. All the children are wearing period clothing, seems like an 18th century scene. Signed lower right E. Piola, en verso contains a few labels, which have some of the info rubbed off over the years, titled “Children Playing”. Framed in a wide wood carved frame. Measures overall 33.75in wide x 27.75in tall, 23.5in x 19.5in image only. Good vintage condition, small repair along the jug and hand of the young boy in the green hat, as pictured.
